Thousands of years ago, all but a handful of the powerful Eredar race swore allegiance to Sargeras and his demon army. That handful of pure-hearted Eredar renamed themselves the Draenei, or exiles. Soon after, the naaru - sentient energy beings - blessed the courageous Draenei with Light-given powers, as well as the technology to escape the wrath of Sargeras by traveling between worlds.

Today, the Draenei are a proud but lonely people who have endured thousands of years of constant pursuit across many worlds. For the last several generations they had found peace and harmony on the world they named Draenor, but then Sargeras and his demons corrupted their neighbors the orcs with bloodlust and dark sorcery. The orcs hunted the Draenei nearly to extinction, then shattered the world itself with their cataclysmic magics. Despite this, somehow a few Draenei managed to cling to life and sanity. Late in the Year 27, a small army of this shattered world's courageous Draenei was able to take a naaru vessel – The Exodar - back from the Blood Elves who had stolen it, and use this vessel to transport themselves to Azeroth, where they had heard of a great Alliance who fought for the glory of the Light. The Exodar unfortunately crashed on Azuremyst Isle off the coast of Kalimdor, killing many. The Draenei are still reeling from this last of many tragedies, but at the same time they are determined to succeed in this new and alien world. Courageous and purehearted, the Draenei hold out hope for the future even as they nurse their sorrows and their deep anger toward the Blood Elves and the Burning Legion.

Family: Family is very important to the Draenei. They wholeheartedly believe in marriage, and siblings tend to remain close throughout their lifetimes. Unfortunately, very few Draenei families still remain intact after the past years' death and devastation.

Hometown: The Draenei, as a race, have been homeless for thousands of years. For now, though, they operate out of the remains of their ship, the Exodar, which has crashed on Azuremyst Isle.

Generic Backstory: Your people have only begun measuring the passing of years since coming to Azeroth, but you estimate that you're at least several centuries old by these people's calendar. You grew up on Draenor in peace and harmony with your shamanistic neighbors the orcs, living a simple life at one with nature and the Light. Then the orcs turned into monsters, seemingly overnight, and attacked your people. Everywhere you and your family fled, the orcs pursued, until after nearly a decade of war only a handful of your loved ones were left, and your very world had been shattered into pieces. As always, your people adapted. When word leaked out that the Naaru had come to your shattered world, you and hundreds of others went to investigate... and discovered that the Blood Elves had already taken over the naaru's Tempest Keep. You and your allies, however, were able to secure one of the Keep's satellite structures – the Exodar – and use it to flee to yet another new world: Azeroth. Your hope is that perhaps it is at last time to stop running, and that you have found Home.
