Steadfast defenders of the environment, druids have a keen sense of the balance of nature. Their sensitivity to the natural world is so strong, most druids even gain the ability to alter their forms to one or more of the beasts that live in the world.

Both the night elves and the tauren were taught the art of druidism from Cenarius, more than 10,000 years ago. However, the powers of the druid were lost to the tauren until recently. Because of the friendship formed during the war against the Burning Legion between the Archdruid Malfurion Stormrage and the Tauren Hamuul Runetotem, Tauren druids have returned to Azeroth.

The druids are members of the Cenarion Circle, based out of the Moonglade, and view the delicate balance of nature as much more important than the tensions between the Alliance and the Horde. Although it may startle some to see the Kaldorei and the Tauren to interact with each other on seeming equal terms in the Nighthaven, the druids put aside the rivalries between their races for the sake of what they deem to be a greater good.

Expected Role

Druids are extremely versatile, and can fill in for nearly any of the "key" roles in any group. They have a broad range of healing spells, including spells to cure poisons and raise the dead. In bear form, they generate Rage and have several tools to gain the attention of their opponents, and are second only to warriors in their ability to take punishment and attract attention. In cat form, they can slip into the shadows, maul enemies from behind, and even use their keen noses to determine the location of humanoids. Although they may not be the equivalent to warriors or rogues, they make an excellent secondary option, and their versatility allows them to fill in should one of the other positions become unexpectedly absent.

Equipment

One of the druid's drawbacks is in deciding what would be the best equipment to use. Since they are capable of doing so many things, there is very little a druid can't use. Druids who expect to be involved may prefer equipment that provides strength (for extra damage in cat and bear forms), stamina (more hit points) and agility (more damage in cat form, higher armor class). Druids who expect to be primarily casting spells will want intelligence (more mana) and spirit (hit point and mana regeneration). For druids, equipment that provides several smaller stat bonuses tends to be desired more than equipment that only provides one or two big boosts.
