Warriors exist in almost every culture in Norrath.  They are the backbone of any army.  When it comes to making war, they have the broadest knowledge of weapons and armor, and how to put both to good use.  Their ability to deal punishment is dwarfed by their ability to take it, though.  Many Warriors can survive what others cannot.

Type:

Melee

Class Skills:

Warriors are narrowly focused as to what they do, but that focus goes deep.  They learn everything there is to know about armed fighting.  They may not wield a bow as well as a Ranger, or fight bare handed as well as a Monk, but give a Warrior a sword and shield, or spear, or a large polearm, or practically any other weapon, and a Warrior will know exactly what to do with it.  Warriors learn to use their shields to bash their opponents, which can stun some, or inturrupt a caster's spells.  They also learn how to taunt a foe better than any other Class.  Taunting may seem childish to some, but it is essential to the Warrior's ability to get a foe's attention.  This is because of the Warrior's greatest asset, and that is his ability to take damage.  When facing a creature as large as a house with claws sharper than a Rogue's blade, it is far better for the Warrior to face that onslaught.

Other Names:

Champion, Myrmidon, Warlord, Overlord, Khala Dun (Vah Shir), Dar (Froglok)

Races:

Barbarian, Dark Elf, Dwarf, Froglok, Gnome, Half Elf, Halfling, Human, Iksar, Ogre, Troll, Vah Shir, Wood Elf

Armor:

Warriors wear anything that will allow them to do their job better.  From leather all the way up to plate, Warriors are not restricted in the type of armor they can wear, though they prefer plate, whenever possible.

Religion:

Warriors do not draw power from the gods.  Their activities are personal physical improvements.  With no need for the spiritual, can any of them blamed for being Agnostic?  The Warriors that do follow a god come in two flavors.  Some Warriors will follow whatever gods the people of their home city follow, with the exception of Half-Elves.  As outcasts, they are freer in their choice of deity.  The others follow Rallos Zek, the God of War.

Questing:

A Warrior could quest for many reasons.  They could seek to aid their friends and home cities.  They could be looking to line their coinpurse.  Or, they may simply be looking for the next best weapon or piece of armor.

Culture and Training:

Warriors are so diverse, that it is difficult to make many definitive statements about a unified culture.  Some fight with valor and honor, while others find that these things are a hinderance at best, or a weakness at worst.  They do tend toward more violent conflict resolution, as it's what they do best, but they are not all violent, despite their calling.

Warrior guildhalls often double as the city's guardhouse, though some societies protect their cities by other means.  Wherever the Warriors make their home, the training is focused on arms and armor, grueling physical workouts, and lessons in tactics and strategy.

Interaction:

Warriors usually can't go it alone. They cannot heal themselves, beyond the basic first aid of bandages, and that only goes so far. They shine when they are at the forefront of an adventuring party. As the most skilled of all fighting classes, their warcraft allows them to provoke and engage an enemy, allowing the Warrior's allies to strike from relative safety. Luckily, the Warrior is ideal for this role, as he is supremely capable of taking this sort of assault.

Alignment:

Warriors come from nearly every race of Norrath, and can worship a wide array of deities.  Therefore, you can find a Warrior of any alignment, if you're willing to look hard enough.

Roleplay Tips:

On most days, you're the only thing standing between your comrades and certain death.  Of all the classes of Norrath, you're the one who gets to experience the brunt of the combat.  You're up there, front and center, face to face with people, animals, and things that want to kill you.  Death is always around the corner, but that's what you're there for. To take the hits.  That way, others won't have to.  If you're lucky, you get to live, too.  If not, at least you died on your feet.

Quote:

"Look, you may be a very powerful guy when it comes to wiggling your fingers and speaking in tongues, but I doubt you can do that very well when something's trying to separate your head from the rest of your body.  Now the Cleric there doesn't look like she wants to scrape up your remains and bring them home in a bag, so do everyone a favor andget behind me."
